Dobar dan Onatzkis--
We survived our first two days of school with kids. Fun being back in the classroom with kids from all over the world as that global perspective is refreshing. Yesterday we took our first major road trip out of the city to Mostar. It is the unofficial capital of Herzegovina and very famous for its bridge. We wound through the mountains for about two hours/80 miles and found ourselves in a much different climate than in Sarajevo. It was a sweltering 100F so frequent beer stops were in order. The bridge has been rebuilt since being destroyed in the war and there were large crowds watching divers make the plunge into the very clean waters below. On the way back, we stopped for a lamb dinner at a restaurant with a terrific view of the mountains and river below. We returned to stormy weather and a 30 degree drop in temperature! Definitely, a full day and we're paying for it today.

ps
There many are many large cemeteries such as this one that dot the Sarajevo landscape.
